La Red de Ciclovías que se espera que esté completamente operativa en noviembre, conectará siete municipios en el Gran Mendoza y se convertirá en la más extensa del interior del país. Con 70 km de ciclovías construidas, mejorará la infraestructura ciclista y promoverá el uso de la bicicleta como medio de transporte.
La Red de ciclovías del área metropolitana se expandirá a lo largo de casi 350 km, incluyendo las ciclovías municipales y de Vialidad Provincial, y contribuirá significativamente a la sostenibilidad del Sistema de Movilidad Polimodal.
La red de ciclovías del Unicipio puede reconocerse fácilmente con su logo “U” estampado en el suelo. Está conformada por varios kilómetros en los siete municipios del Área Metropolitana de Mendoza: Ciudad de Mendoza, Godoy Cruz, Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, Lavalle, Guaymallén y Las Heras. Pronto darán a conocer la imagen satelital de la obra completa y el Manual de Convivencia con el Ciclista.
Además de su impacto en la movilidad, la obra fomentará la reducción de gases de efecto invernadero y la disminución de la isla de calor en la ciudad. Este ambicioso proyecto ha sido realizado bajo rigurosos estándares de seguridad vial, ofreciendo un enfoque sostenible y seguro para el transporte.
El financiamiento para esta expansión se obtuvo a través del Programa DAMI II, con el apoyo del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), y la construcción estuvo a cargo de la empresa Stornini SA.
Unicipio, en estrecha colaboración con los municipios y la participación de la comunidad, ha dado como resultado una red que invita a los mendocinos a elegir la bicicleta como medio de transporte y promueve un cambio estructural en la movilidad urbana.
