Al incendio ocurrido el domingo 29 de octubre en el pedemonte de Luján de Cuyo, (posterior al incendio en El Challao producido horas antes), le siguió un incendio sobre 20 hectáreas en un campo en El Carrizal el 31 de octubre. Bomberos Voluntarios de Luján de Cuyo prestó servicio en cada ocasión.
El siniestro se originó en la Finca José Bastoneros, ubicada en la Calle Las Turberas sin número, cerca del kilómetro 46 y medio en El Carrizal, durante el martes 31 de octubre por la mañana.
El incendio se propagó velozmente, afectando una extensa área de alrededor de 20 hectáreas de campo y zonas arboladas.

La magnitud de la amenaza provocó la rápida acción de emergencia de Bomberos Voluntarios de Luján de Cuyo, quienes lograron evitar una mayor expansión del fuego, al acudir desde la mañana a El Carrizal.
«Se finalizaron las tareas durante la tarde, gracias al helicóptero de la policía, pero los muchachos estuvieron allí todo el día», informó el Presidente de Bomberos Voluntarios de Luján de Cuyo, Lic. Carlos Gómez, a Diario Luján.
El Cuerpo de Avión Policial con el helicóptero Halcón, equipado con una capacidad de extinción de gran potencia, realizó 10 descargas de agua desde el aire con el objetivo de contener el fuego.
Gracias a la respuesta rápida de los Bomberos Voluntarios de Luján y a la efectiva intervención del Cuerpo de Avión Policial, el incendio pudo ser contenido circunscripto a la Finca José Bastoneros.
También se realizó una guardia de cenizas para prevenir posibles reinicios del fuego.
